Ari Lennox Parents: Meet Gloria Salter and Shane Salter
Ari Lennox is a talented American singer and songwriter. Ari Lennox was born on March 26, 1991, in Washington, D.C. to Gloria Salter and Shane Salter and spent her childhood there.
She went to Wilson High School as well as Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Her stage name was inspired by Mary Lennox, a character from the 1993 film adaptation of The Secret Garden.
Ari Lennox is the first female artist signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records label. She rose to prominence following the release of her first EP on the label, Pho (2016). She also made an uncredited appearance on Cole’s song “Change” that year. Shea Butter Baby, Lennox’s debut studio album, was released in 2019.
Lennox has also appeared on the Dreamville compilation albums Revenge of the Dreamers II (2015) and Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019), with the latter debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and earning Lennox a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album.
In 2021, Lennox’s single “Pressure” and her appearance on Summer’s “Unloyal” charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
