Braun is an award-winning American actress who has appeared in many TV series as well as a few movies. She is however most popular for her role as Carly Corinthos on the soap opera, General Hospital. Her portrayal of the beautiful and conniving Carly not only fetched her numerous accolades but has also endeared her to millions of viewers worldwide.

Tamara Eve Braun was born on the 18th of April 1971 in Evanston, Illinois. Her nationality is American while her ethnicity is Jewish. The actress spent her formative years in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, and attended Evanston Township High School. While growing up, Braun was quite passionate about acting. However, after high school, she decided that the most responsible thing to do was to get a conventional degree. She therefore enrolled at the University of Wisconsin to study psychology.

While studying at Wisconsin, the actress would often attend school plays and the whole experience broke her heart as she wished to be on stage. When she couldn’t take the heart break any more, Braun took the bulls by the horn and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London) to study acting. She thereafter traveled through Europe, and also featured in some TV commercials in London, before making her way back to the States.

Career

On coming back to America, Tamara Braun promptly headed out to L.A. in 1995 to pursue her acting career. She landed her debut role with a guest appearance on the TV series, The Sentinel, in 1997. After this humble debut, the Chicago-native racked up guest appearances on other TV series including The Magnificent Seven, 7th Heaven, The Pretender, Unhappily Ever After, Party of Five, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and City Guys. Braun however found it difficult landing steady work and steady pay but decided to tough it out. Her perseverance paid off in 2001 when she landed the recurring role of Carly on General Hospital. Her performance on the show not only propelled her to stardom but also fetched her several accolades. Since her breakout on General Hospital, Tamara Braun has not relented but has gone on to feature in other TV shows including Days of our  Lives, All My Children, Freddie, House, Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Saving Grace, Three Rivers, Castle and Supernatural.

Husband if Married

Tamara Braun has never been married. She has also kept her love life pretty much under the wraps and as such, there is no records of any romantic relationships that she has been in. The actres was said to have dated a state legislator, named Michael Bergan, back in 2005 but that relationship was never confirmed. Even though Braun has never been married in real life, she has been married on the screens. She portrayed a lesbian lady named Reese on the soap opera, All My Children.

Her character later embarked on a relationship with the much-beloved Bianca Montgomery and the couple eventually tied the knot. Reese and Bianca were the first gay couple to get married on a soap opera and are now regarded as icons in the LGBT community.

Tamara Braun hails from a tight-knit family of three. Her mother’s name is Renata Bennett while her father’s name is Bennett O. Braun. Her mom is a psychiatrist while her dad is a psychologist. The actress is quite close to her parents and all three have a karaoke band together. Braun serves as the bassist while her dad is the singer. Her mom rounds off the group as the guitarist. Braun also boasts of an illustrious extended family. Her maternal granddad, Erwin Samuel, and maternal grandma, Steffi Buch, were both holocaust survivors. The actress also has a cousin named Susan Prinz Shear. Shear is a holocaust educator and playwright, and in 2003; she launched a play titled No Way Out. The play detailed the attempts made by one of her aunts, named Gerda, to get her family out of Nazi Germany.
