Jason Scheff Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Jason Randolph Scheff (born April 16, 1962 in San Diego, California) is a bassist, singer, and composer from the United States of America. Since 1985, he has been a member of the legendary pop-rock band Chicago, where he plays bass and sings. The eldest son of Jerry Scheff, a well-known session bassist who toured with Elvis Presley for many years, he is also a musician. Darin and Lauren Scheff, who are also composers, are also members of the family business. Scheff was a member of the Point Loma High School Class of 1980 in San Diego, where he graduated with honours. In 1982, he began his professional musical career as a member of the Los Angeles–based rock band Keane, which was his first band (not to be confused with the English band of the same name). The late 1970s and early 1980s saw him perform in a number of bands, several of which included members of Ratt later on in their careers. The multi-platinum Chicago formed in mid-1985, when Peter Cetera left the group to concentrate on his solo career. At the time, Scheff was just 23 years old.  When it came to the existing Chicago songs, Scheff was known for his ability to accurately replicate Cetera’s vocal parts. His ability to sing lead vocals was first shown on the 1986 song “25 or 6 to 4,” a reworking of their 1970 success, and later on the smash single “Will You Still Love Me?” in which he sang lead vocals. Scheff has written many original songs for the band, including their 1989 Top 10 hit “What Kind Of Man Would I Be?” in addition to playing the band’s traditional repertoire. In addition, Scheff co-wrote the song “Heart of Mine” with Bobby Caldwell and Dennis Matkosky, which became a huge success for Boz Scaggs in 1988. It was featured on the Boz Scaggs album “Other Roads” in 1988, as well as the compilation Hits! in 1989. In 1993, Scheff collaborated with co-writers Peter Wolf and Ina Wolf on a song titled “Bigger Than Elvis,” which was supposed to be included on Chicago’s 22nd studio album, which was released in 1994. A tribute to Jason Scheff’s father, Jerry Schaff, this song describes Jason’s early recollections of seeing his father perform for Elvis Presley on television and believing that his father was the great star. “Elvis was simply a guy in a suit,” Jason said during the 2003 performance on A&E’s Live by Request television show. It was rejected by Warner Brothers in 1993 and remained unpublished until 2008, when Rhino Records released it under the title Chicago XXXII: Stone of Sisyphus (The Stone of Sisyphus).
